    A  If you are talking about our 1588 Clock Module products, then the modules include 1G Ethernet ports, RGMII interfaces. You can use these modules in an in-line fashion or as an 1588 PTP offload to the main CPU/Switch. If you are talking about a more scalable customer design, then the AccuTime Software (i.e. PTP Control Loop) software would be run on the main CPU/Switch while the PLL IC would be sitting next to CPU/Switch.

    A Yes, the most recent relevent applications are 5G equipment like RU or DU. In the presentaion, I also mentioned about power grid communication, viedo broadcast applications.

    AITU-T G.8273.2 defines four classes of T-BC (Telecom Boundary Clock, the nodes in the transmission path), Class A to D, with different time accuracy requirements, Class A is the easiest to meet and Class D is the hardest. Currently, most of 5G equipment are trying to meet Class C, max 5 hops, each hops Max Time Error= 30ns. Silabs can achieve Class C today and we are working on Class D now.

    AThe "bandwidth" required to carry PTP packets are actually not that high. First, the PTP Control Loop (i.e. Servo SW) should be performing some filtering of the timestamps and therefore only updating every ‘n’ timestamps (where ‘n’ will vary based on the PDV noise, etc.) . Let’s even assume the Servo makes adjustments for every timestamp.  We would be looking at  60 – 80 bits x 128 PTP packets/sec.
