    ASDN can be secure and stable as well. Some of SDN attribute can show that.  OpenFlow-based SDN offers a number of attributes that are particularly well suited for implementing a highly secure and manageable environment: The flow paradigm is ideal for security processing because it offers an end-to-end, service-oriented connectivity model that is not bound by traditional routing constraints. Logically centralized control allows for effective performance and threat monitoring across the entire network. Granular policy management can be based on application, service, organization, and geographical criteria rather than physical configuration. Resource-based security policies enable consolidated management of diverse devices with various threat risks, from highly secure firewalls and security appliances to access devices. Dynamic and flexible adjustment of security policy is provided under programmatic control. Flexible path management achieves rapid containment and isolation of intrusions without impacting other network users.   A few big companies, like Google, Amazon and Facebook, are adopting SDN as their data center backbone. SDN's stability should be at a acceptable or high level. Without more and more companies embrace this technology, its stability can be even better.

    AWith more network nodes in the infrastructure, the controller needs to have more memory space to store node information, maintenance tables and action/control tables. The execution uint and network bandwith have to be raised to be a higher level in the controller set to finish the tasks more quickly.  

  • QSDN现阶段主要存在哪些问题?

    A1. IT organizations might not like SDN although SDN includes programmablility, automation, and centralization of control, configuration and policy management. They might want new ways to find value. 2. SDN still is lacking of compelling use or business cases, and immature vendor strategies. 3. Organizations have to consider whether a vendor offers OpenFlow support and what apps or services are supported by the SDN architecture. It's also important to consider whether there's an ecosystem of partners that can supply applications, and whether those apps have been tested.    

  • QSDN如何将虚拟服务器资源整合到一起?

    ANFV could define the central control functions of SDN as virtual functions, so, for example, OpenFlow switches could be directed by NFV software. In theory, the SDN controller could be implemented as a virtual function, which would make it conform to both SDN and NFV.   Firewall and load-balancing applications are also targets of NFV since they have an SDN-like segregation of forwarding and control behaviors. Indeed, if NFV addresses the general case of policy-managed forwarding, it could define a superset of SDN.   NFV accepts a model of cloud-hosted virtual functions. Each collection of virtual functions that make up a user service could be viewed as a tenant on NFV infrastructure, which would mean that the cloud issues of multi-tenancy would likely influence NFV to adopt a software-overlay network model. This is where SDN comes into play. This model, made up of tunnels and vSwitches, would segregate virtual functions to prevent accidental or malicious interaction, and it would link easily to current cloud computing virtual network interfaces like OpenStack's Quantum. The virtual networks would be provisioned and managed using SDN.

    AA virtual network consists of one or more virtual machines configured to access local or external network resources. A virtual network is configured to use either a network adapter in the physical computer or no network adapter. If a network adapter in the physical computer is selected, then any virtual machines attached to the virtual network can access the networks to which that physical adapter is connected. If no network adapter is selected, then any virtual machine attached to the virtual network becomes part of the internal virtual machine network. An internal virtual machine network consists of all virtual machines that are attached to a virtual network, which is configured to use no network adapter. Each internal virtual machine network is completely isolated from all other internal virtual machine networks. Virtual Server supports an unlimited number of virtual networks, and an unlimited number of virtual machines can be connected to a virtual network.   Configuring multiple virtual networks on a single physical network adapter, you can associate multiple virtual networks with a single physical network adapter. To do this, first create a virtual network. Next, associate the virtual network with a physical network adapter. Then, attach one or more virtual machines to the virtual network. If you want multiple virtual networks connected to the host operating system, create additional virtual networks and then repeat this procedure.

    A A potential use case of SDN as an expansion for WAN-area beyond the cloud datacenter would be the interconnection between the BGP/MPLS IP-VPN (RFC43648) network and the virtualized network in the datacenter. SDN can set up this interconnection automatically. The benefits for customers include use of Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) resources via IP-VPN on demand; and for carriers to provide such a connection without any manual operation of the configuration.   SDN, by its nature, is oriented toward joining different pieces of technology via the orchestration mechanism of a logically centralized controller. In fact, a unique SDN protocol, does not exist—users must combine various technologies. Therefore, in consideration of the technical solutions of SDN, it will be increasingly important to study the end-user’s benefit from a systemwide perspective to ensure the final configuration supports the user’s objectives.

    AC29x use BLOB (encrypted container) to protect access to sensitive information. All important information (e.g. encrypted key) cannot be read back once written to the crypto accelerator. Also, Freescale supports Trust Archituecture, which protect against foreign attack. All software running on C29x needs to be authenticated with ODM public key.

    A Before Openflow is deplyed in a data center, there's a need to add SDN controller in the infrastructure. Besides, all the equipments(like switches) in the infrastructure have to support openflow protocol. So all equipments have to pass the compliance of openflow and identify what version of openflow they support.

    AYes, you can connect to C29x throught PCIe or ethernet interface. Currently we have driver for QorIQ and Intel X86 host.

    A Programmatic automation of configuratin, management, monitoring, data mining, telemetry are requirements in today's networks. SDN enables all of them. Automated network provisioning is a production use case for network programmability. Network programmability can also simplify operations by centralizing policy and configuration management and increase WAN utiltization throught traffic steeing.

    AThe SDN modules include SDN layer, controller and physical network. The SDN layer provides virtual services and is supported by the centralized CONTROLLER. The CONTROLLER uses OpenFlow protocol to manage the real physical switches.
